Did You Know .....
There are over 50,000 search engine and listing
companies now but less than 20 of them are the only ones used by 99%
of Internet users.
You can submit your website to these search
engines but unless your website is set up correctly you will never
get listed.
Using too many keywords on your website can get
you kicked out and even black listed by the major search engines.
When you submit your website to the major search
engines
they will send a computer activated device (called a spider) to
check out your website and to see if it is deserving of being
listed. Each search engines uses different basis for rating your
website. Their spiders use complicated formulas to determine
whether or not they will list your website. They factor in total
words, total pages, website popularity (how many websites link to
yours), how meta keyword and description html is coded and how
often certain words and phrases are repeated.
Each search engine uses different criteria for
deciding who gets listed and who gets banned so if your website is
not correctly set up it can do very well in Yahoo but not even be
listed in MSN Search.
Once you submit your website to search engines it
can take from 4 to 8 weeks for these spiders to even make it to your
website.
If you use a FREE hosting service your website
will not be listed by most major search engines.
Search engines use odd determination factors in
deciding where to list your website. They may list it under "Oregon
Fishing Guides" but not under "Fishing Guides Oregon."
The bottom line is this: It is EXTREMELY
important to "know what you are doing" when it comes to search
engines. If you do not, it is STRONGLY recommended that you have an
expert plan search engine strategies for your website.
"Submitting a poorly designed website to search
engines is like fishing with an old hubcap for a lure. No matter how
many times you cast it you will never catch a fish and more likely
you'll scare the fish away"
